Carl Richards & Greg Davies on managing investor behaviour
I’m guessing that most readers of Adviser 2.0 will know all about Carl Richards.
If you don’t, he’s a former financial planner from Utah, who’s currently living and working in New Zealand. From there he runs a consultancy called Behavior Gap, which helps advisers to communicate with their clients and manage their behaviour more effectively.
Carl is best known for being able to explain important financial issues using a black marker and napkin. As well as illustrating his Sketch Guy column for the New York Times, his pictures also adorn the walls of advice firms all around the world.
My colleagues and I at Regis Media recently had the pleasure of filming a discussion in London between Carl and Greg Davies, Head of Behavioural Science at Oxford Risk. Like Carl, Greg is a hugely well-informed and articulate communicator on all things behavioural, and the discussion made for a fascinating hour.
We’ve broken the discussion down into four videos.
Part 1: Explaining complex subjects simply
Part 2: The value of financial planning
Part 3: Rebalancing and risk management
Part 4: The rôle of fintech in behaviour management
